Sometimes I just write

Occasionally I find my mind troubled by the day to day trudge of workaday life and the exciting, adventurous-and frequently dark and scary- inner dialogue that becomes my writing seems to vanish in the fog. I find my way out of this fog by taking some time just to put pen to paper and free write. I don’t crowd myself by trying to think of ideas or developing one I’ve already had, I simply begin writing. It may begin with something old and clich├ęd “it was a dark and stormy night. ..” but then I let it flow. Frequently this results in a few pages of utter drivel but occasionally something beautiful arrives unexpectedly in the page. I think it’s like taking your dog to the park and letting it off its lead;  you’re never quite sure where it’s going run and what new sights and smells it will discover, what amazing adventures it will have (or if it will come back in one piece! ) but watching it run free and seeing the purest joy in those moments can’t fail to bring a smile to your face. The undiluted, unadulterated golden glow that only comes with the complete absence of fear. So go, take a few minutes for yourself, leave your fears and worries at the gate, take you’re grey matter for a walk and let that puppy off the lead! You have NOTHING to lose and everything to gain. I’m going to take my own advice and do it now.
