Elohim progress

Two steps forward, one step back! Having completed the first hand written draft for chapter one of THE ELOHIM EXPERIMENT I sat back on my laurels feeling chuffed that it had flowed so well and preparing to transfer it to my laptop, (I prefer to write my first draft by hand as it feels more personal and helps me connect with my characters and the storyline) but as soon as I started typing I began tweaking again to the point where, by the time I’d got half way through, I had added another two pages. Now I’m not so sure it flows as well, so I’ve decided on a little editing, leaving in all the detail that the story line needs and building the characters but stripping back all the in depth description of emotion and scenery. Still not sure if this is a good move, I’ll see how it tracks when it’s done, but the last thing I want to do is bore my readers with rambling descriptions when what I like to read is punchy and powerful. Having said that, I don’t want to deny, or be denied, the chance to develop the strong sense of emotion that will not only enhance the scene but, hopefully, make the reader feel as much a party of the story as our two main characters. Decisions, decisions! 🙂
